PROCESSING TIME POLICY: Once we receive ALL of your documents, along with your deposit payment, we will work to get your return done in 2-3 business days. For returns that require back bookkeeping, it will take 5-7 business days for electronic data to be processed, and 7-14 business days for manual financial data to be processed.
WORKING HOURS & RESPONSE POLICY: Our working hours are from 10:00AM-6:00PM Monday through Friday, and 10:00AM-2:00PM on Saturday. We will respond to emails, and calls during those hours. If you receive an email, or correspondence from us outside of normal business hours, please know that this is an EXCEPTION, AND NOT TO BE EXPECTED. RESPONSE TIME TO EMAILS & MESSAGES ARE 24-48 HOURS.
DOCUMENT ACCEPTANCE: All documents need to be uploaded to your client portal, or submitted via the website document upload page. If you cannot access either of these options, please fax your documents to 855-743-5765. Sending multiple emails via an unsecured network leaves room for data theft, in addition to missed documents. As we continue to grow, we cannot, and will not allow clients to send emails containing tax documents.
ON TIME APPOINTMENT GUARANTEE: We value and respect your time. We pay you $1 per minute for every minute that we are late. Excludes rescheduled appointments, and changed appointments given 8 hours in advance.
INSUFFICIENT NOTICE CANCELLATION POLICY: Each time a client has an appointment, and misses an appointment without providing a minimum of 24 hours’ notice, another client is prevented from receiving services. Therefore, it is our policy not to charge a missed appointment fee, but instead, we will not work with, and end engagement with clients/potential clients that don’t value, or respect our time.

INFORMATION NOT PROVIDED FOR COMPLETION OF TAX RETURN: If we request additional information to complete your tax return, and you fail to provide the information within 60 days, we will disengage from services. Your 60 days begin on the date of initial deposit, and all monies paid to Howard Tax Prep LLC for tax preparation are considered earned, and will not be refunded. After 60 days any partial tax returns (that haven’t been put on extension with the IRS) are purged from our system, and clients will have to pay a new fee and deposit to reopen their tax preparation case.
ACCURACY GUARANTEE: If Howard Tax Prep LLC makes an error on your return, we'll pay resulting penalties and interest. Excludes information not given to us by you the taxpayer. Accuracy guarantee applies when you have given us all necessary information, if you don’t tell us that you drove for Uber, or you don’t mention your side business, dividend income, etc. we cannot be held responsible.
AUDIT ASSISTANCE: If you are audited, we'll explain your IRS tax audit notice and the documentation you should provide to the auditor.
COMMUNICATION WITH TAXING AUTHORITIES: Who really likes to call the IRS, or the State? Have you ever called the IRS and been put on hold for hours at a time? For clients whose returns we prepare and sign, we can represent you before revenue agents, customer service representatives, and similar IRS employees, including the Taxpayer Advocate Service. These services are provided for an additional fee.
USE OF SERVICE ANIMALS & SUPPORT PERSON. We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal on the premises. We will also ensure that all employees are trained on how to interact with people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal. (i.e.: do not engage the animal). We are committed to welcoming people with disabilities who are accompanied by a support person. At no time will a person with a disability who is accompanied by a support person be prevented from having access to his or her support person while at Howard Tax Prep LLC.
CLIENT PRIVILEGED COMMUNICATIONS NOTICE: You should also be aware that anything you tell us during the interview for the preparation of your tax return is confidential, but not protected from the IRS. Privileged communications (those that are protected from IRS authority to compel our testimony) are limited to non-criminal tax advice on matters before the IRS or non-criminal tax proceedings in federal courts. Although we consider any information you provide us as confidential, return preparation engagements are not covered by advisor-client privilege. If you feel the nature of any subject matter to be discussed requires protected communications, please raise that issue so that we can discuss your possible need to consult with an attorney for legal advice.
